The thing I find amusing about Iran's accusations of Warner Bros. support for an anti-Iran ideoogical campaign is that by complaining they educated the entirety of the Fox News audience that Iranians are in fact ethnically Persian, not Arab. Hell, I have no confidence in the American People to make any kind of meaningful distinctions between any of the nations or states of the Islamic world, let alone know the details of their ethnic and cultural history. I read an article that said a good percentage of high-ranking state department officials could not distinguish between Shia and Sunni Islam. Can you? It's worth looking up. I would recommend a book by Vali Nasr called The Shia Revival, which, while perhaps giving a bit of undeserved consideration to Iran, gives a good overview of the divisions between Sunni and Shia Islam and the implications they have on our foreign policy future.
In any case, I am quite sure that just about no one who saw this film walked away thinking that modern day Iranians engage in the kind of promiscuity they show in the movie. The Iranian reaction is an opportunistic attempt to shore up political capital on the homefront.
I apologize if this post is overly political, I saw the movie and thought it was ridiculous and awesome. It also made me feel totally fat and out of shape, maybe fat people should sue the film makers for making us depressed and self-conscious. Whatever happened to "it's just a movie?" especially one that is based on a comic book, which is loosely based on historical fact that was recorded 2000 years ago by scholars I would characterize as somewhat less objective than modern university researchers.

Too bad I watched History Channel's "real" take on the story as I would've liked the movie better. Awesome action and visuals but too unrealistic and persians portrayed as monsters and black folk.
