Default Alien Quadrilogy

I already sat thru the Alien Legacy box set. I'm a big fan of the series, despite 3 and Ressurection.

Anyone gone thru the 9 disc quadrilogy yet? THoughts?

I understand why people don't like 3, but it's still very nicely done. In terms of cinematography, directing, and editing, it's pretty much the best Alien movie ever. It's just the writing that tends to bore people.

But Ressurection was a damn insult. Wasn't really the directors fault either; more like the complete bastardization of Hollywood.

I actually just bought this today, and am watching the "special edition" of the third one as I write this. So far, WOW! I own the previous Alien Legacy box set as well, and this blows the crap out of it! Audio and video are damn near perfect on all of the films, and the extras will take forever to watch. That's what I love about these kinds of DVDs. You could know absolutely nothing about the series, and when you're done watching this set, you'll know the name of the unit production manager on each movie! Without getting into which movies in the series suck, I will say that if you are as big a fan of these films as me (since I was 9), go out and buy/steal this set immediately. It sheds new light on movies no one really knew a whole lot about. Worthwhile.

Ressurection was the most disgusting movie I've seen... I really could have done without that whole ending sequence of that thing getting torn apart and sucked through that hole..

I bought the set the day that it came out. First I watched all of the extras, which took for me a little over a week, and then I spent a week watching the movies. I must say I have always been a fan of all 4 of the films and always liked Alien 3, but after seeing the Alien 3 Special Edition, it is just WOW! I love everything about it, the directing, cinemaphotography, and the story makes a that much more sense after the deleted sceans were added back in. It has become my favorite alien film.

alien 3 is the best of the series in terms of acting (IMO) and is my favorite, but 2 is obviously the most entertaining. i cant watch 4, but it's just not creepy at all. the others will have you looking behind you at the closet door if you watch them in a dark basement...
