The Amiercan
Just saw the American...with George Clooney and a host of europeans I have not seen before, mostly Italians. I also did a search and did not find anyone has reveiwed this film
8 outta 10, spoilers may abound in the next few words...this is a film about a loaner, assasin, gun maker, who does his last job, so he thinks...you can't trust anyone, you may have lost your edge....it is well done, slow paced like life can be, and full of interesting camera shots that portray what this character is feeling.
Well cast, George does a great job of being a buff middle aged tired assasin who trusts nobody and for good reason, there is a bad guy or girl around every corners...the story is nothing we have not seen before and there is an ending that wraps it all up...i would not be surprised if this was a remake of some film I have already seen and can't remember...and this film is not really memorable...it relies on the cast to carry it, and that cast is George, period.
i can recommend it: if you like George in whatever drama he does, don't care much for diaolgue as there is not much, don't need allot of action, there is some but it does not carry the film in any way, and like stories about loaners.
all in all it would be a B movie if it were not for George, well done for what it is with no new ground broken except for George doing his thing well.
