Default paris after midnight

This film is worth seeing if you like the way paris looks, it is full of screen shots of one of the most beautifuly cities i have ever seen.

The characters we have seen before in many of Woody's films, they have anxst, they have issues, they are middle class or upper middle class, they are mildly humorous, and they constantly talk this "woody speak" so prevalent is many of his former films. Thankfully he uses actors to voice his thoughts, in this case a writer played by Owen Wilson, who pulls it off without doing a wood allen imitation per se.

Woody does not make an appearance at all.

No car chases, nobody gets shot, you see all kinds of famous characters from the period of literary adn art history of paris in the 1920's and at the turn of the century, owen delievers his lines flawlessly, there is this sureal/surealists character to the story, chicks will dig this film, you will get a laugh or two...dry humor, and most importantly there is paris, in the rain yet!

Although this is not a long film, maybe 90 minutes, it moves slowly in parts, so beware of the yawn factor from time to time.
I give it a 6 outta 10 cause paris is soooo cool to behold and you get to meet the likes of Taloose Latrek, Aliss B. Toklas,Gertrude Stein, Picaso, Dali, Hemingway, Gershwen, and so many more of the Wood's iconic heroes.

As an English major, and with a wife who double majored in English and art history, it goes without saying that we LOVED this movie. Not for everyone, for sure, but absolutely his best film in decades.

I have a Music degree, but clearly knew the background of most of the periods discussed. It was fun on that end.

Owen Wilson does an ace job of turning Allen's writing style on it's head through a very non-effacing delivery. As my gf simply stated, "It was the first movie I saw with him in it where I didn't want to punch him."

My dad recommended this highly and has been well reviewed but it played in one art house and I missed it. Maybe on video. Even if the movie sucks, I generally find Owen Wilson entertaining. He has a certain charisma and you can be just facsinated with how mangled the bridge of his nose is.
