Default Bend It Like Beckham

This is a REALLY good movie! It's the funny story of an indian girl wanting to play soccer (emulating her soccer idol, David Beckham) but also having to deal with its culture clash with her family (in particular her parents). The movie takes place in England and is hilarious! I promise you will find this movie very entertaining (this is NOT dry british humor at all!). This is definitely a must see!

Yeah...i just saw this last week and was quite surprised. it was the 2nd time my friend had seen it. A little cliched at times, but overall, very entertaining.

Yeah, a little cliche. If it were an American-made movie it would have been much worse.

i agree with the above assesmants. my wife, two daughters and i gave it and we never all agree on a movie.

we saw three movies in three days and would rate them as follows (0-100 scale);

1. a mighty wind - 95

2. bend it like beckham - 90

3. identity - 46

two outa three ain't bad. wished i'd seen confidence instead of identity.

jss2k - why such a low score for identity? can you elaborate w/o giving plot details away? I haven't seen it myself but am considering it. Thx.

i guess it leans far too much toward the slasher genre for me. it has some pretty good humor for such a dark movie, but i found the plot to be a bit to contrived and the ending frustrating. my 22 year old daughter loved it and the reviews have been very polar. i thought it would be a bit more cerebral than shocking since john cusack was in it but was mistaken.

i think a lot of people will like this movie, i just was not one of them.

Check out Pirates of the Carribean, coming this summer. The same girl plays the lead female role.

Yeah, and she pulled off the accent pretty well too. Unless that's her real accent?
