Yes, but he's only the producer, not the director. The movie is great, I went into it only having seen the ads on TV and was very happy with it ^_^ usually, stuff like this gets hyped up and talked about and criticized up and down before the movie comes out, and you have a pre-conceived attitude towards the film, and I'm glad it wasn't like that with this. It screened at SDCC, and then last Thursday in Chicago and here on Friday. If you like action, and a bit of gore: go see this for sure we'll be back to see it again on Friday.

I was at the 12:01 a.m showing; overall the movie was great I highly recommend it. Although fictitious one couldn't help but feel empathy for these Aliens who wanted nothing else but to go home and although they have far more advanced weapons than we do they choose not to use violence to break out of the "ghetto" the humans have confined them to. The way the Aliens are treated and their living conditions relates historically to how the Germans treated individuals of Jewish decent.

^Perhaps...I somehow thought of the aliens as analogous to "illegal immigrants" being exploited by a political-commercial plutocracy. Don't forget that both the U.S. and Europe, the West in general, have significant problems with illegal immigration. Some could argue that the aliens in D-9 are held hostage by commercial intersts determined to take their technology, and illegal immigrants are held hostage by commercial interests that are dependent on them for cheap labor.

This is all the more ironic because of South Africa's obvious history of racial apartide and institutionalized prejudice.

Not what I expected, but enjoyed it nonetheless. I hope there is a "D-10"
