I love Tom and think he's a great actor, but I think Liam Neeson would have fit this part better. Tom is not who I picture as the main character of the book.

I don't like Hanks for this part either. What about Harrison Ford. Or maybe Alec Baldwin? I think it should be an American actor...to stay true to the book. I've had enough Brits-with-American-accents, thank you.

i was thinkin harrison ford aswell. when i read the book thats who i thought he might look like.. but who knows tom hanks might pull it off very well..

From what I recall from the book, the guy is a symbols expert and professor who has written papers and books and lectures around the world. In my mind he was very much like an Indiana Jones, I don't see Tom Hanks that way at all. Cheers.
