Grand Prix
1966, directed by John (ronen, french connection, live and die in LA) Frankenheimer. This is a carnut movie for racing fans and gearheads of all ages. It has some drama, which you can fast forward, it has sights, sounds, and camera angles with split screen that highlight racing. It has the famous Monaco tunnel drive through that sounds like heaven to a car guy. James (rockford) garner stars with an all star cast. The stunt drivers were just about everyone involved in driving and racing at that time. It's a very good film that holds up well. On the critical side it's a bit long, and although there is a bunch of racing the unnecessary drama and the international cast just weight it down.
Every sound you might want to hear: real racing engines with carbs (no computers here) and plenty of seat time. 8.5 outta 10 cause I believe it was Jimmy Garner's dream as he starred and produced
