It was pretty good if you went into the movie with no expectations. Since it was marketed as a war movie, I was disappointed that it wasn't a war movie at all.

You can't truly understand something until you've experienced it. You'd all appreciate it more with having served in the military.

I didn't say you'd like it better, I said you'd understand it better. Thank you for proving my point.

I loved Jarhead! It was way better than I expected. Can't wait to own it on DVD. Sam Mendes did always have an eye for awesome lighting! Who ever is his DP should get an award or something. I'm gonna watch it again. "FIELD F**K!!!!!"

I liked it. It captured the sense of train-hard-then-boredom better than any other military movie I can recall. My wife hated it. She couldn't really say why, other than hinting at the realism of it, part of what I liked about it.

One of the guys I work with used to be a Marine 1,000 yard sniper competitor, a long time ago. He never saw any combat either. But he has the best stories...

Yup. I think thats why people hated it. They wanted action. But sorry folks. Thats one side of the war thats real. Alot of my friends are ex military (2 special forces guys, Israeli dude that saw constant battle amongst others) I hear stories from them, and its earily similar.

The israeli dude told me about the APC they were in. The APC broke down and they had to wait for 3 days inside it until help came. They got soooo bored, they were throwing their socks against the wall and had a competition who had the stickiest sock (how long it could stick to the wall).

Don't ask me what was in the sock. I didn't want to find out.

It's been a long time since I saw a movie that I felt was a complete waste of my time and money. Jarhead broke that streak

there was absolutely no emotion to the movie. the story went along this flatline with no real climaxes whatsoever.

was it bad? no. was it good? not exactly. just kind of blah....

i can appreciate slow movies, but even a slow movie can be climactic
