The book was a lot better. Action wise it was horrible but it was proving major points. It gives you an idea of what actually did go on in operation desert storm. A whole different war then the iraqi war. Sarsgaard definitely stole the scenes from jake. foxx portrayed a great snco. Things like gettin your head blown off during field exercises just don't happen. That was a dumb scene. Best quote of the movie was "thou shall not kill" Well **ck that sh** lol. The boot camp scene was too short and really was pointless. But you can't remake a full metal jacket let alone make a better one.

you have to read the book to appreciate this movie, or have decent taste in movies.

I thought it was OK. Worth renting at least. Good photography, pretty good acting, and interesting story.
