The last winter
Spoilers alert...OK, cable gives the opportunity to catch films I would never see due to the simple fact that they are offering them to me as part of my service. Under the horror or sci fi catagory I found this one.
It stars Ron Perlman (hellboy) so I figured it could be somewhat cool. Not. This is a film about what is just around the corner and out of sight, a horror film that does not deliver much in the way of real horror, just the promise of it with an over all attitude and air of scarey stuff is gonna happen.
The scarey stuff is , well, sort of , cgi crazy looking and large caribu or elk, coupled with some crows and allot of mood music and strange sounds. Characters die different unhappy deaths... A loosely written plot this is just a fairly well accomplished mood piece, it has mood, scarey and horrific mood, but little more than a promise to perform and that perfect ending: everyone dies, nobody knows what happened, none of this makes sense, stay away from this place!oh and a knod to golbal warming and don't mess with mother nature....perhaps?
Like so many crap stories, it starts off with many interesting questions and gives very poorly created answers.
Just like in the recent indi film Monsters, there is a mood created by the director and actors as they move through the film, they are tortured , they brush with the unknown, and in this case they die.
I cannot recommend it, perhaps a generous 1 outta 10 for omminus mood
