Yeah thats what some people are saying but I hope not. And with Michael Mann directing, I don't think it will be a Bad Boys 3.
in what.. another 10 years we'll get a SF version for Nash Bridges? as much as people don't like DJ, he's got some air-play.

Totally overrated. He did get some airplay, but Nash Bridges is just a hair better than Walker Texas Ranger.
You gotta hand it to the guy, for limited acting range he milked a nice career out of it.
If MV the Movie gets very good reviews I will most likely rent it. I watched the show as a teen, but now that I see reruns on cable, that show was awful, and it was not just the powder blue suit jackets. I guess I am not a fan of cranking out movies from old TV series. I have seen several and they mildly entertaining, but I never walked out of one saying , "Wow, that was awsome."

Oceans 11 - actually not bad 12? what a waste of time
Charade - Something about Charlie - Didn't even bother I liked the first one too much
Sabrina - uhhh.. no Sorry Harrison, I like you, but you are no Bogart
Manchurian Candidate? - bleh
Flight of the Pheonix? - that one bombed too
Thomas Crowne Affair - not too bad either... just updated
I dunno about TV shows.. but I think that studios try to revive old stuff and make an easy buck off of something that is already known to be good, and make a sham out of it.
As I was going over the list of Bogart movies.... it was kinda amusing to see how few of them have been redone, which I'm glad for. Bogart is awesome.... the man's man.
Well I saw the movie. I am not going to give any spoilers out. But it is definetly not Miami Vice. If you watched the t.v series you are going to be disapointed. And the music sucked. Phill Colins "I can feel it in the air" got butchered up with some crappy remix.
I saw "Miami Vice" yesterday and my advice is to not see it if you are expecting to see the show from the 80's. The thing to remember is that it is not the 80's anymore and what was "cool" and relevant then (as far as the show is concerned), no longer is today. The movie is, and in my opinion should be, an updating of Michael Mann's original vision for the show. It has the darkness of the later shows: gone are the pastels and 80's pop. The cinematography is fantastic, making good use of the high-def cameras Mann used. The boats are cool and the action is intense(like Mann's other movies). Let's not forget the Ferrari, which makes only a few appearences but the first one is memorable as Crockett gets into it on the interstate. I don't know if Ferraris really have blue flames coming out of the exhaust when they run wide open, but it sure does look cool!
Plus, nothing sounds quite like a Ferrari engine. All in all, I enjoyed it. I think if you can look at the movie on it's own merits and not judge it against the show, it will be much more enjoyable. As Michael Mann himself said, "The last thing I would have been interested in was just doing a remake. We're doing Miami Vice as if there never had been a television series, doing it real."

I give the movie a mixed review. The action scenes were great, classic Mann. There were a few shootouts that were reminiscent of the Heat bank robbery scene. The weakest part of the movie was the Crockett love interest sub plot. I felt way too much time was spent developing this part. I thought Colin Farrell and Gong Li didn't have great chemistry together, and I ended up not caring about that part of the movie at all.
