Default s. darko

let me just start by saying I was a huge fan of donnie darko. richard kelly did a fantastic job on it, and its one of those movies I don't think I could ever grow bored with. everything presented had a purpose, there was no excess, and all loose ends were neatly tied up. it was like watching a david lynch movie that actually made sense.

sadly, this "sequel" didn't do the same thing for me. I tried to like it (I really did!), but the plot felt like a contrived rip-off from the original. character development was sub par, and the acting was about equal to that of a late-night showtime skin-flick.

if you liked "still waiting..." you'll love "s. darko"

donnie darko left so many untied loose ends and unanswered questions, its not even funny. but that is exactly why i loved the movie, i love movies that are fuzzy on the straight answers, leave it up for you to decide.

s. darko, on the other hand, richard kelly was against the production of this movie from the beginning, but had no control over the original film and therefore had no say in sequels and whatnot. his public denouncement of this movie was enough for me, s. darko will never be seen by me.
