Default STAR TREK- Beyond

We caught Star Trek Beyond on Friday night. I really liked it but...

The Star Trek reboot has been a great series and this 3rd installment has been no different, but its the 3rd best. the Story line is classic Trek. The special effects and space based scenes are incredible. There's a little bit of "we have a problem- its a really big problem- there's no way anyone can figure it out- but if we do this thing with the dilithium crystals and gravity waves we'll have it figured out." This happens again and again and again in Beyond. imagine if you went to the junk yard and tried to get one of the rusted out jalopies working again. perfectly.

So, some of that happens in Beyond. Impossibilities made possible.

I still love Trek. In Beyond, the characters are developed more and certain relationships are deepened.

A comment on 3D- I would be nauseous if i'd seen this in 3D- there's way too many fast moving, sudden shifts across the screen. 3D is just a stupid gimmick in my mind.

I give it an 7.5/10.

Did not intend to see this until video, but it seems the reviews have been kinder to this over most of the other summer offerings so I am going to check it out.

I saw this in Imax 3D in theater when it came out, and there was a scene in particular that made me tingle when they descended on to the space planet I do enjoy 3D overall, but seem to get a bit desensitized to it after a wile as I think its more subtle other then a few key moments in movies, and then I become aware that im wearing glasses which is a little distracting. I have 3D in my own 106" home theater and do enjoy it from time to time as it does add a dimension thats fun for scifi movies specifically, which are my favorite genre. I just watched this movie again last night at home since it came out on Redbox and agree its a good movie, doesn't disappoint, but I have to agree its probably 3rd best out of the 3 so far.
