Love anything JJ Abram's does. This is directed by him, right? I'm at work, so I haven't seen the trader yet.

Saw it yesterday. I liked it, thought it was a good to very good summer movie. It does have a couple of issues.

First, lots of Trekkies or Trekkers or whatever Star Trek geeks call themselves have had issues with JJ taking liberties with Star Trek canon. This I don't care much about because I have always found Star Trek and it's emphasis on diplomacy and the "prime directive" a little boring. To much talk and no go. JJ likes to make frenetic movies with chases and shoot outs which this movie has lots of.

This is primarily an action movie, and yes while it has some discussion of Star Trek philosophy in it, it is still an action movie.

My major complaint is it has one or two too many action sequences. It rolls along very well until the end, when it has chase after battle, after fistfight, after action scene, after....... It was good, but it was just a little editing short of extremely good IMHO.

Can't wait to see what JJ does with Lucas's material.

I liked it because it was an action movie. Saw a matinee showing this past Saturday. There was a rouse of general applause when the credits rolled. Yes, after this latest installation (I liked the 1st one as well) I now have some high hopes for Star Wars.

I saw it last week in 2D and this past Monday in 3D. I like the colors better from the 2D. The 3D was not overdone, so it worked well.

Overall, it's a great action flick the whole way through. JJ is doing well on the Star Trek reboot.
