"And not only is his character intriguing, but he's done it with a whole lot of style and lyrical finesse, with clever word-play and poetic brilliance that most fans don't even notice, and finicky naysayers disregard." -"If skills sold, truth be told / I'd probably be, lyrically Talib Kweli / Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense / but after I sold 5 mil, I ain't been rhyming like Common since" - from "Moment of Clarity"

I am just glad there are some other hip-hop fans on this site.

yada, yada, yada. please let some cliches die. like someone else said, there are gems in each album. i will say that i haven't heard an album that i haven't liked yet. i feel that people who say stuff like this really aren't in tuned to what he says and just, well, jump on the jigga bashing bandwagon. it's okay though, to each his own, however, any problem that you could have possibly have with his music he has already explained, in verse. if he isn't the best then he is severly underrated...

this is sooo tight, especially with that beat produced by em. also i like the wordplay, the insight, and intelligence. too bad he feels that he has to dumb down his lyrics a lot, fortunately he forgot to this time.

he should be lyricist of the year for this verse(in it's totality). additionally, i like how where he said /i ain't been rhyming like common since/ could actually be /i ain't been rhyming like common sense/ since back in the day common used to go by common sense.

He's had gems in each album, granted, but the overall quality of the albums have depleted.. Like so many people in the industry attest to, people are bootlegging so much because consumers (me at least) are not gonna pay $14.99 for the life and times of Sean Carter when it has a couple hit tracks.. Jay-Z has so much potential, I just don't like the direction his career took, that is also due in large part to the selection of singles he releases, which are suspect.. but it brings in revenue so what do I know.. Everybody's gotta get paiiiddddd in the end...

I think he's pretty good though don't get me wrong, some say he bites a lot, but I think it's just more of paying homage or tribute.. I don't think he would have been as Big (no pun intended) if biggie didn't die...

I'll have to say I like The Black Album, Moment of Clarity and Public service announcement, among other songs are really good, good way to retire
