history:
i deals with a 1700's attempt to blow up the british house of parliament. the government at the time was giving favors to what ever supporting fraction that kept the government in power. just because thats what they were doing. the peeps that were punished by the government were not strongly tied to the event and current british thinking was they punished the wrong people.

ties to the bush administration are incidental.

Excellent movie. I loved the injection of politics and how it applies to current events, not only with the Bush administration, but around the world.

I thought it was excellent. The movie had some serious depth which was what most movies are lacking.

Lots of the exposition is very thought provoking. I do see the film makers had some very obvious religious bias, and the cliche priest with a young child fetish is sooooo worn out. But the rest I really liked.

Oh yeah, Natalie Portman is the ultimate in goregeous.

By the way, are most people aware that one of the Warchowski (sp?) brothers is going to get a sex change? Not sure which one, although I don't know what they look like, but I found it curious that the credits said "Warchowski Brothers" when I think one is on pre-op hormones.

The best of 2006 so far (it's still early, of course). Alan Moore should be proud.

BTW, Natalie Portman has some serious acting chops. Her emotional range in this movie is impressive. The interrogation/imprisonment scenes were simply brilliant. A serious contender for best actress/supporting actress 2006 IMO.
