Just came back from it and with you, everything was great except the ending.

Is anyone else more scared by Dakota Fanning's teeth than anything else? Cheers.

I thought it was good but not great. They could have done something better at the end to add some suspense. Especially for those of us that are familiar with the original.

Its funny, I think George Lucas and Steven Speilberg think they can make movies like they did in the 1970s and 1980s and make millions of dollars (yes they still will but not as much as they could be making)but its 2005 and IMO they still have that young director blood from the 70s and 80s. IMO a up to par 2000 movie would be the Lord of the Rings The Return of the King. Star Wars Episode 3 cant even compare IMO and War of the Worlds isnt even in the same league. Thats how I see it. With War of the Worlds, they should have got the president and more leaders of other countries involved like they did in ID4. Just my opinion. Star Wars episode 3 lacked so much that I wont even comment. I mean both of these movies were ok but not award winners.

i saw it last night. i thought the first 1 hour and 30 min or so was great. it really gave you a feeling of hopelessness. but the last 30 min it kinda pulled a "signs" and just ended. id go see it if i where you, it was still entertaining.

Taken as a whole, its a great movie, up until the ending. But I guess we see the events unfold through Ray's eyes so its not too bad. I just wish there was more substance in the end.

I didn't like the ending. How come the houses around Tom's ex-wife's were all safe and fine? Didn't the aliens wipe them out?. I still don't get why only Tom's minivan worked and the rest of the cars didn't! Oh yeah I do find Dakota Fanning annoying...too much drama. I went to see this movie for entertainment and not see an 11 years girl scream her lungs out!!!

I found it odd that they kept the resolution as simple as it was originally written amidst all the other enhanced elements and imagery. It made the ending seem even more quick and convenient. I would have liked to see more technological bits and failed attempts at combatting the aliens, but that's not typically what Spielberg films focus on - humanity is. Still, a most terrifying thing to watch.
