Default World Trade Center

My wife and I went to see World Trade Center last night. Going in, I had mixed feelings about the movie. On one hand, I thought that it is too soon and inappropriate for a movie about 9/11 too be released just only 5 years after. I also wasn't sure if Stone would attempt to inject politics and his views into the movie or not. On the other hand, the reviews have been good and I read that what was portrayed in the movie was very true to real life events, down to the detail.

I wasn't disappointed. Stone never injected politics into the movie. Bin Laden, al Queda, Muslim extremists were never mentioned. It was more of a documentary with good acting. It was sad and uplifting at the same time. You're happy that Jimeno and McLoughlin survived but sad over the devastation of that day. In the end, I'm glad I saw it.

Have you seen it? What are your thoughts?

PS - Please no politics or conspiracy theory postings or I will close this thread. This is a Politics forum for those type of threads if you wish.

Althought I doubt that I'll go watch this movie, I think it's an interesting view on movies in general...

Consider that movies originated as entertainment... people chuck in their nickel or whatever and go see something that makes them laugh... then as time evolves, other genres come up, people use film as a way to get news around, dramas, action movies come out.

Lately there seem to be more cases where movies have become less "entertainment" and more along the lines of storytelling. Now I mean this in a broader sense. Documentaries and editorials used to be confined to the spaces of PBS and the history channel, but lately we've seen through stuff Bowling for Columbine and Supersize Me, and then stuff like Syriana and The Constant Gardener, and then even further to stuff like Goodnight and Good Luck a move towards mainstream of a broader array of topics and application of movies.

Maybe with the audiences getting larger and larger, contracts for actors becoming more commonplace, it is possible for movies to replace, or edge into what people used to view books only for?

Thoughts on this?

im currently sitting at my desk at work 4 blocks away from ground zero while reading this. the movie does look good, but i doubt i will go see it. i have already seen most of the documentaries on tv as well as all of the news programs on 9/11. i dont think there is too much more i can learn about what happened on that tragic morning.

I believe everyone should view this movie at least once... Great portrayal and details of that infamous day...
What a tragic, horrific day that was and this def. will remind all those who have seemed to forget that we were attacked and ALL the sacrifices that were made heroicly...
It doesn't beat around the bush on the truth of that day... No bashing or personal views from the director, just the truth as it happened...

Interesting article about the (until this movie) unsung 9/11 hero,
U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. David W. Karnes:
