Can we cut it out with the Dear <insert name> threads?

Yes, there are a number of the Dear <insert name here> threads in this forum.
What harm are they causing?
If you don't like them, you do not have to open them, just skip to the next thread.
This forum would be pretty much dead without them.
Since Aug 11, only 5 threads (besides the Dear xxxx) threads have new posts in them, including this thread.
I don't see the harm or issue with them.
Just my two cents worth!
