Actually, I don't let it run my life. I spend a LOT of time off-line. However, I will check in peroidically, and that makes it look like I am online a LOT more than I am.

Turns out that our local provider had some line that got hit... a telephone line. So anything that had any connections to a telephone line were fried.
Had to buy myself a new setup - so just went with an Apple MacBook. Rarely even use it though...
