I don't have an SLR, and honestly I can't justify one. I have three cameras (one is more "entry level" and the other two are more prosumer and I have several thousand pics through EACH of them.
Expensive tools won't teach you how to build a house. They only help out the most skilled of carpenters. Learn how to be a photographer first THEN worry about better equipment.
