Only 20,000 miles? Holy crap, I did that in the first year of owning my S2000. Shoot, I put 14k miles in only 6 months of owning the NSX.
You don't really drive that car too much, do you?

I was getting more and more worred about breaking something. The ride was starting to get annoying with the combination of exhaust drone, gear whine, short shifter rattle, tire noise, etc, etc, etc.
I was worried about bottoming out being lowered with the body kit ALL the time. I didn't like parking it anywhere for fear of parts (like the wheels) being stolen.
I turned it into a show car, but I didn't like doing car shows either.

Driving it stock has been very eye-opening for me.

Oh, there is no question to that. I definitely want another NSX.
But...
1) 00+ NSX's start around the mid to high 40's. Even with great credit, that's still a $770-800/month payment. Insurance wasn't bad - but that's a lot of cash when I'm trying to buy a house.
2) I refuse to pay the interest rate that lenders charge to buy a car that is over 7 years old. Starting Rates on New Cars - 4.5%. Starting Rates on Used Cars 7 Years or Newer - 5.5%. Starting Rates on Used Car 8 Years or Older - 10.5%.
3) Even if I did have the cash to purchase an older model - maintenance is too expensive. Average price quotes for a Timing Belt Change in an NSX is $2,000.

Why not get a 97 or 98? The '00+ is the same car, and you can probably get one at a price that, even with the 10% APR, is reasonable.
Say for some crazy reason I could find a 98' NSX for $40,000 ... that's still $879.70 / month.

I'll have had it for 5 years at the end of the lease. The residual is resonable (n fact, for a car with 20,000mi on it, it's a STEAL) so I might, or I could trade it in for something else. The newer S2000's don't interest me much though. 8K, VSA,
Naw.
It might be time for a change.

I didn't realize 5 year leases were an option. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with mine in 6 months too.

My credit qualifies me for 1% over the best possible rate - so on a 8 yr old vehicle I'd qualify for 11.5% APR with a max term allowance of 5 Years / 60 Months.

Still wish I could have taken that car to DBR 06' though.
