Actually, no, its not. You should pay just like everyone else. A lot of work goes into these events and if you want to attend, you should pay, just like everyone else. There are a lot of costs involved that are not readily apparent beyond the dinner. If the organizers want to rebate you some money based upon you not coming to dinner, then that is up to them but ..... we've been over this again and again year after year (yes, I realize that you are new here, sorry). If you don't want to pay, don't show up for an event everyone else has paid for.
ok i guess ill just drive around by myself then

very friendly attitude by the way

I'm not trying to pull attitude, just explaining why you are getting it -

Actually, this is an issue, Dragon meet after Dragon meet. This is why you're perceiving attitude, we have to deal with it every 6 months. People want to show up to drive with other S2Ks and not pay for the meet. Excuses run the gamut, from one like yours, to the "I'm Local, I'll just meet up with you", etc.

In your situation, the right thing to do is to PM the organizers, and see if they can rebate you the cost of Saturday dinner portion of the fee. Like the above posters, I agree, showing up at an event that others find value in and have paid for is rude and presumptive on the part of folks who do it. A lot of work goes into these things, and the fee is imminently reasonable.

You bought and S and can't afford the meet? I don't believe that for a second, sorry.

its not a matter of not affording the 55 bucks...i didnt even know you guys were going the same week when i first thought about going up. then when i saw on killboys calendar that s2ki was going that weekend, i thought great, even better reason to go. thats why im staying the additional night instead of just leaving on friday, to get more runs in with fellow s2k drivers.

im going to the dragon to enjoy the mountains, drive, and just get out of this cesspool. im not going to sit under a tent in a baseball field, so i really dont see why i need to pay, yet i still offered to give something, only to be told dont come.

its unfortunate we have to pay to be friends

Why? That $55 is about the best 55 you'll ever spend. And the tent is where we'll all be, so if you want to hang with us, you'll be there, too. How do you think that tent gets paid for?

It's an Organized Event. It costs $.

Some people just won't ever understand....

You're taking this completely the wrong way, buddy. All we're saying is that a lot of time and energy go into planing these events. The organizers work hard every year to make these events affordable and pleasurable for everyone. What do they get in return? Lip from people who have a problem paying for all or some part of the event cost. It's just sad. I'm sorry if our little get together happened to coincide with your planned trip. If you want to wave at us as we drive past you on the dragon, that's fine. However, if you want to take part in any of the real fun that goes on, we just expect you to pay like everyone else.

And if you think that we're all driving up there to "sit under a tent in a baseball field", you are sadly mistaken. 90% of the fun of the event is meeting other people who share a common passion. Yes, during the day time we all drive the great roads and do poker runs, organized drives, lunches, etc... but at night we all settle down for two nice dinners and swap stories of past events and such. We have a beer and cigar swap, parties at various cabins, night drives, etc.

I promise you that if you chose not to participate you are doing yourself quite the injustice. There is a reason that these events attract so many participants every year. Stop fighting this losing battle and come join us for a good time.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill... You were never told not to participate.

So cut your nose of to spite your face. It really makes no difference to us, but it's quite sad for you. You'll be missing a good time.

And you're showing your age. If you're not 17, you sure do act like it.

Really sorry that you are taking this the wrong way... Our group ??? Well we come from "ALL" over....Two times a year we make our way back here, to the Dragon...for fun with our fellow S2K friends.....Most of us highly anticipate this, every year... The money is "NOTHING".....compared to what this means to us.... We would come, if it were three times that cost...or even more... We are an awesome group...and you will be missing a wonderful time with us, if you choose not to meet !!!!

Cough up a few bucks, swallow your pride, and join us !!!! I am sure that you will come back....over & over & over... Then you will see what we are all talking about....

I sincerely hope to meet you !!!! ( a 14 time veteran....and that is a lot of Dragon time ).....but mostly it's meeting & talking and having a great time with people who have become "Life-Long" friends.....

Denny / Looter.....
