Dragon Fall Run - Jamie's First Led Big Drive!
Join me Saturday to run our favorite Saturday drive to Cherohala and Tellico Grains!
Pace - Moderate
The Route
Leave Fontana for the Great Rollout, through the Dragon (check the 2019 DFR Itinerary or the Whiteboard at Fontana for exact Rollout time). After taking lots of video/pictures/drone footage, we'll divide up into different drive groups. We'll leave the (paved) Gravel Lot and take more twisty roads, to end up at our famous Tellico Grains Bakery - home to overzised 10" pizza and cinnamon rolls as large as your head!
After eating like chipmunks ready for Winter, we'll allow time to digest, as we head over to Bald River Falls. We'll take some time to enjoy the splendor (Instagram opportunity) and tell stories of those who have hiked down to the Falls... and some who have done handstands in the Falls (Hi Lindsey!)
From Bald River Falls, the Cherohala Skyway is at our doorstep. We'll run up the Skyway - stopping near the top for some breathtaking views and a group shot.
From there, we'll head over to Robbinsville for... what else? Ice Cream at Pop and Nana's!
After ice cream, a jaunt back up 129 to near Tapoco, where we'll turn on Meadow Branch Road, and enjoy some up and down twisties at the top of the mountain, which will drop us on the back end of the cabins at the Fontana Resort, to end our day of fun! We'll have enough time to relax before the Saturday Banquet.
Total drive time - 4 hr Gas stops on US 411 (3/4 of the way to Tellico), Tellico Plains and Robbinsville.
