John,
I am really encouraged by your request for comments. I stayed in the lodge and the room was fine, except that the light bulbs were very low wattage and one lamp over the phone had no light bulb. I would definetely come back next year, and will probably look at getting a cabin and bringing more family.

My suggestions:

1. Make sure the Grill is open next year.
2. Keep restaurant open later.
3. The menu was fine, but you need more food for 250+ people, when your the only place to eat.
4. Take a look at some of the exterior steps and exterior lighting. The back of the lodge needs lighting around stairs, sidewalks etc. and some steps need repair or replacement.
5. Take a look at additional parking lot lighting.
6. For those clients that stay in the lodge, are there exterior grills, picnic tables or shelters for their use?

Ok, enough "picking" - my own personal opinion is that you and your staff did fairly well, for a "first time" Dragon event venue. Keep working at this - you have a great location and can do wonderful things for yourself, and of course for our little group of "road warriors".

I loved the place! We had a Magnolia; it was great, more than we expected. The view alone was amazing, I was very impressed. I look forward to staying again!

Little things that would have made everything perfect (albeit nit picky)

-A roll of paper towels
-Little shampoo bottles (we found ourselves without)
-Extra trashbag or two

(believe it or not, we are clean )
I stayed with this idiot in Magnolia 621.

Overall our place was wonderful. Our TV had inputs, we even had a VCR. We hooked our xBox 360 to it and and watched videos from a camcorder on Saturday night. A TV with inputs is crucial to automotive nuts like us because we love to watch our footage from the day.

I agree with Jason about the roll of paper towels, shampoo, and extra trash bag. Also a little thing of dish soap would have been nice.

Because of the lack of cell phone service up there we actually found ourself hunting for a phone and our cabin didn't have one. That would be a nice addition. And having internet access would be a HUGE plus.

Overall I LOVED the place and appreciate all you guys did to accommodate our huge group. Looking forward to next time (not the far off).

THANKS

with some of the issues some people had. I was in one of the newer rooms by the pool.

I did miss an overseas call that I was expecting on Saturday night.

Very nice rooms-just that details need to completed. No clocks/toilet paper/having to force my way in the room b/c the door was stuck etc etc.

As far as the restaurant goes:

My main complaint was the lack of food choices for the breakfast buffet. Cereal/toast/pancakes/waffles etc would have been nice, and also relatively inexpensive to add to the buffet.
Maybe you might consider having later dinner hours on Friday/Saturday nights when you have a larger group at your resort?

Having said that, I do want to single out the waitress/hostess you had working there, working all 3 days (breakfast/lunch/dinner). She did a wonderful job, especially since that she was by herself for 90% of the time!

Hopefully, when DBR06 comes around, all these issues/minor complaints will be resolved.

Dave

to add about TV inputs, our TV in the inn had physical plugs but there was no way to get to the AUX channel (there wasn't a input option on the remote and we couldn't channel down to get to it)

all of these suggestions are on par with a newly renovated hotel... the fact that you had your ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday says that you guys still have alot of work ahead of you, on a positive note you guys are definately on the right track! I can't wait for Dragonball Run or even next year's WTD event... hopefully by then the mean bikers will realize that we are only trying to give them our hard earned money (who doesn't want money)

Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort (formerly CrossRoads Of Time for us old-school) is, and always will be, focused on the motorcycle business. With the gas station being renovated, I could see a time where the place for car clubs to hang out would be at the Village. A large, central parking area would help (or more parking around the gas station).

I really like the location, because we enjoy the run down to Robbinsville as much as any of the other roads.

Every cabin should have a phone and an alarm clock in every bedroom. Inn rooms too. I don't mind being somewhat disconnected for a weekend, but I realize not everyone can blow off their jobs and family like I can. As for wifi or other internet access, I really don't care. It's a vacation spot, not a business hotel.

I had a 3BR cabin (shared with Shareall and others) and overall it was really good. I had to improvise with the kitchen supplies (only one frying pan), and was dismayed to find there were no paper towels (we got some when we were in Alcoa, along with groceries) and no extra trash bags (ours was full by friday at lunch). Minor quibbles, as our cabin seems to have been well fed. Only one room had an alarm clock; I set my phone on airplane mode and that got me by for a 2nd clock. Everything else worked as advertised - TV, water, lights, etc.

This is my 10th time in the last 4 years at the Dragon. This weekend was the first time I've ever had an employee at the CRoT be short or rude on the basis of preferring 4 wheels to 2. On two occasions workers came out and told S2000 owners to move their cars from spots that were promptly filled up with bikes, and the one guy in the shop was making snide comments about the tin roofs while I was standing there looking at stuff. Not really encouraging me to spend my money there.

Overall, I think the experience was positive. Sure a few issues arose, and I'm glad everyone is bringing them forth.

I agree...clocks/alarm clocks would be a nice addition to the rooms...other than that I can't complain. Everything, in my lodge room, actually worked...although there is a decided shortage of electrical outlets in the actual rooms. The bathroom area was blessed with multiple outlets...but those aren't so useful unless one brings an extension cord ! With laptops, external disk drives, battery chargers, etc...one can run out of outlets in a hurry.
