I was looking at the fact it's a 5w transmitter and has a speaker/mic.

I see. Well I don't know how the transmit power compares to the Midland 1000's, but I do know from experience that without a headset, you'll likely need to get the speaker close to your ear to understand over the wind noise (unless you're hardtop, I suppose?). Holding that up to your head while driving will look straight out of the 80's, that's all I'm sayin'

I would get the Midland 1000's and be done with it, tbh. Plenty of positive reviews here.
