keep your head screwed on straight, know your limitations, when in doubt - drive conservatively, leave your ego at the hotel, and enjoy.

Well said. Don't let other riders/drivers pressure you, know your limits, and make sure your car is 100%.
I felt safer driving on Deals Gap then the highway getting up there. Everyone there is an enthusiast, fully aware and attentive.

Just be warned.

Driving the Dragon is like Smoking Crack.

It only takes one time to hook you for life, and you can never get enough.

Even going slow, the Gap is a beautiful ride. Just don't cross the double yellows - LANE CROSSING KILLS

I've seen so much asshattery on Darryl's site lately I'm tempted not to bring my S. Instead, Paha Koira and I are filling the front bumper of the F250 w/cement No Dorifto!

The Dragon is only unsafe when folks drive beyond their abilities. DO NOT let anyone push you beyond your comfort level or abilities. It is no fun when cars are damaged and God forbid, people hurt. "Do not cross the double yellow line" is the number one rule.

Come out, meet a lot of great people, enjoy the beatuiful NC and TN mountians, and drive a great stretch of road known as the Dragon.

Also, there are many other great roads to enjoy in the area.

I drove the Dragon about 3 weeks after I bought my S. I didn't trust (and still don't) my tires for that kind of driving in anything other than dry conditions, so as soon as it rained - I parked it and rode with others for the rest of the day. I'd rather have my car (and my life) then chance it and not, be aware, be careful, and don't push your limits.

That being said, I'll be back in April with different tires and much more experience in the S BRING IT ON!
