Thanks for the heads-up Lee. While I *am* a card-carrying cheapskate, and this is an impressively priced competitor, I think that [for driving/action] vid-captures, I'd want a model that records in wide angle. Without that, driving playback can seem significantly sloooooow. But now you've given me another *brand name* to watch for, and if/when they offer wide angle, I might well bite.

dave this camera has the same viewing angle as a gopro...not sure what the build quality/video quality is going to be like though? also reliability? whos going to give it a shot?

One cool feature is thatit comes with a remote and video display.
I have been waiting for Gopro to release the remote accesory but they keep moving the date forward. First theysaid April,then Spring, now they say Summer.

Viewing angle: Looks like both are 170* horizontal, but I didn't see the Swann's vertical angle.

You can tell in the comparison vid that one of the Woot commenters posted, that the color is much better from the Hero2, but for the price? Hmmm.

To me, the external mic input is the biggest selling point of the Hero2.

Yeah the remote bacpac will be awesome, that way every video doesn't start and end with my face!

IMO, absolutely necessary for motorsports recording (unless you're willing to run a secondary mic device)
