Killboy's Pix Are Up!
Thanks again, killboy, for the fantastic work you guys do, and for your sponsorship of WTD 2006. I think I have dozens of your shots, and will be ordering more.
BTW....it is true; "Timmy Flies....across the yellow line! "

Sometimes there is a crowd were we are, sometimes there are crowds at lots of other places. I don't feel the solution is to drive in the wrong lane, maybe just slow down until you get by? Your pictures will still look great.

Hey go for it buddy! We love what we do, and appreciate all those who send us their business and compliments, but think about what goes into this: We give up our whole weekend every weekend to sit in the sun/rain/bugs watching everyone else have fun, taking thousands of shots with thousands of dollars worth of camera gear. Then Lori and I spend all week sorting the shots one-by-one, uploading, and filling orders. (and forget benefits like health/dental) This is all we do...and it's more hours of work than most full-time jobs. There's a reason many event photographers won't even sell the digital originals, let alone let them go for less than $30 each - because that's the negative...you're not spending any more money on that shot. But yeah, $5 a shot...that's crazy.
And package deals at the Gap are not practical. Imagine some guy on a black Harley ordering "All Photos" of his bike. Can you grasp how time consuming it would be to dig out all of his shots among the thousands of cruiser shots? Then multiply that by 100+ orders per week. Plus there's the issue of splitting the profits between my partners...who gets what percentage of the profit? What if one guy shot more or less than the others? The way it is now, everyone gets a flat fee per shot sold...encouragement to shoot well and shoot often.

Like I said, I understand the need to make a living. And I don't know everything that goes into making a business out of photography as far as paying your photographers and all ... but if you said it was $30 for a CD of lets say 30 pictures, I'd add them to the cart myself and pay the $30 for the pics of my own car. I wouldn't expect you to do it for me.
You guys take great shots, and its great that you can make a business out of it. But I'll still stick to my own free shots

When I took literally over 2,000 pics at Fall Colors, I considered selling my photos, $5.00 for a DVD full of them, all full-res JPEGs which is what I'd assume ends up on the CD. It ended up being easier to process them and put them online though.
A RAW image is really the negative (which is what I shoot in), so "giving away" a full res JPEG isn't exactly like giving away your negative. Watermarks and the like can be put on images to prevent bringing the JPEG to Walmart and printing dozens out.
In any case, just my opinion
Sorry for whoring up your thread. Like I said, your pics are really good! Good luck on the busines.

Great pix, Darryl! I'm making an album, will probably need to direct-deposit my paycheck to your account
It would crash the server if we posted all of them - I was thinking about making a link to an album that just had the more flagrant fouls - cars 1/2 over or more. Still too many of those from the s2ki crowd

There are advantages to having fog lights on your S2000.
You can find your pics quicker.

All of us in the Atlanta group have no problem finding our pics.
Nice job Darryl
I should be ordering soon.
That many were crossing the lines!?!?!? I saw one or two while out there. It is my understanding that there is no more discraceful thing you can do out there than cross the lines. I don't even veer over for Killboy's people (Sorry Killboy.. there is logic). My feeling is that we are all aware of the risks, as are killboy's people. Therefore they should know where we are on the road and that we will be passing very close while not crossing the double yellow. If people do it, lets post the pix. I am guilt of kissing the yellow, but I will slow down before crossing them.
