Just a few things that I brought up at the Newbie Drive a couple/few years ago...
* Stay on your side of the double yellow, stay on your side of the double yellow! Do I need to say it again?
* Drive the white line, it keeps you away from traffic that may cross the double yellow
* Keep your tires between the yellow and white lines to be safe
* If you need to cut corners to maintain speed, you are going too fast for your driving ability
* Brake before going into the corner, not in the corner, same with shifting
* When in a corner try not to brake or hit the gas hard or shift gears or take a drink of your Starbucks, doing any of these can cause you to lose control
* Don’t try to keep up with the car in front of you, if you are not comfortable
...........The other car may have better tires, better driver, more experience
...........Drive at your own pace
...........These drives/roads are not races!
* Focus on the road, not sightseeing. Watch the road ahead to set up for the next corner
* Going into blind corners, be ready for anything
...........99.9% of the time, everything will be fine
...........That other .1% of the time, may find
.................Wildlife
.................Car crossing the double yellow
.................Gravel
.................Bicyclist
.................Lost truck
.................Alien spacecraft
* Leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you
...........Never know when they may do something that affects you
...........They may need to stop quickly, or do something stupid!
* Enter the corners slow, come out fast
* If other cars come up behind you, don’t try to go faster to keep them happy
...........Pull off at the next safe spot and let them by
*Drive defensively!
* Do not cross the double yellow line!
