This was my 2nd RTD event. The first being last year in 2013. You can find my pictures from that event on this forum as well.
This year, jvf1 (black CR) and I ('03) drove down and decided to hit the Devil's Triangle. We approached from Briceville off I-75 and found a great BBQ joint called Fox' for lunch. Smoked meat is your friend.

then we searched out the Devil's Triangle. Look for US 116. it will carry you down to Oak Ridge, TN. From Wikipedia- Oak Ridge was established in 1942 as a production site for the Manhattan Project—the massive American, British, and Canadian operation that developed the atomic bomb. Scientific development still plays a crucial role in the city's economy and culture in general. anyway, on to the road.

without a doubt, this is a road you MUST drive. It is full of tight switchbacks, flowing high speed corners, blind drop offs, steep drops, and scenic views. The road is in excellent condition for 95% of it with some broken areas.
That night we did the star gazing event. it was a really cool experience. The Cherohola was dead- for 3 hours not a single car drove by the outlook we were at.

The next day was Billman's tech day. Thank you for your help there!

From there we headed down 28 to bryson city, up the 441 to Klingman's dome and the most spectacular views in Tennessee.

back down 441 to the Blueridge parkway and some tunnel blasting there. We were lucky and the parkway was not well travelled.

over to maggie valley for lunch at "Vittles"- fried catfish!

Back on the Blueridge Parkway to 215 (awesome), then over to pine ridge road up past bridal veil falls on 28 back to fontana for the BBQ!

Saturday is the monster roll out. Gotta love the radios as they kept us out of the hands of the local police.

Following that, jvf1, zenairdave, josh, and I were determined to find the hill climb road in the Joyce killmer forest. The road is not all that its cracked up to be- the pavement is rough. once was enough, but the view from the top was again, spectacular.
