I could be wrong but I don't believe that Tennessee or North Carolina can stop trucks from using that road. It is a federal highway (US 129). It is funded with federal money. If the federal designation was removed I doubt that the road would be in the good shape that it is.

I know that it is completely stupid but they have the right to drive that road. I do think that both states should have to provide escorts to clear the way.
Yeah I think that is true, but considering they physically can't make it through there without crossing the double yellow about 15 times. If they cops cracked down on them as much as they have on us, and they came out the other side with 15 tickets, I bet they would find another route.

In fact it's kind of unfair to the rest of us if they don't get the tickets isn't it?

I agree but I bet many of the truck drivers don"t know how bad the road is before it is too late. As for the yellow line, they have to cross it to make it through, (don't get me wrong, it is wrong either way) most others cross it because they are stupid!

This is true. I guess they have a better reason then most for crossing it.

They do have the right to drive the road... as long as they can do it without violating the laws (like staying in their lanes).
