Default two lane curvy driving

not sure if the Dragon is like this, but the good part of PCH is one lane each way. and it becomes very frustrating when u keep catching up to the people in front. do u have any strategies for this situation? stop off the side of the road and wait till there's a clear stretch? tail the person hoping they'll pull over? drive in the middle of the night so no one's on the road, but deer?

I might get reamed for this but I'll say it anyway.

Trying to drive like you are in the movie The Fast and The Furious while people are around is plain stupid. You can get yourself hurt, damage your car, get a ticket, or potentially harm others.

That said, if you want advice on how to drive quickly on a "curvy" road is absolutely moronic. Please go to Honda Tech where you will get useful info on how to hurt yourself.

so, i'm guessing when u encounter a curvy road, you drive like a grandma?

and you think everyone who wakes the dragon is a moron?

do u only drive the S spiritedly on closed track days?

not to sound self-righteous, but i prioritize the safety of others. in 11 yrs of driving, ive never been involved in an accident (knock wood)

trivium's posts are not worth reading.

The Dragon is pretty unique because there are no crossing roads nor intersecting driveways - it is purely a two lane road for 11 miles. There are a few pull offs, but when other drivers are in the way I just turn around (find a pull off to turn around in first). Most of the time I'll cruise behind them - the Dragon is still fun at the speed limit (not nearly as much fun). I try to be respectful of everyone on that road. If you look at any map, the Dragon section of 129 looks like an easy cut through between Tennessee and North Carolina. I have spoken to people who thought they were going to be on a leisurely cruise, but discovered one of the scariest road experiences by winding up on that stretch of the road.

It is a twisty public road, you're going to have these kinds of things. Even on heavily policed roads that are fun to drive on, someone is always going to be faster then you. You just treat that person with the same respect you want and when you're the faster one, be nice. It isn't worth forcing someone into a hazardous situation just so you can have some fun.

And yes, night runs

You must drive the speed limits at all times, and keep all spirited driving to track and autox events. A model citizen.

Next time you have a dumb commment to make, keep it to yourself.

It's all that is wrong with the world today. I believe that ***I*** can rightly determin what is safe for ***ME*** to do, and I don't want your help. Next you can warn us of the dangers of second hand smoke. Then you'll be telling us to let our McDonalds coffee cool some before we drink it. Let it end here.

Sorry you had to wait...

While I don't believe this is a black and white issue as trivium seems to believe, on a public road, YOUR choices can and do affect OTHERS. So while making that determination, keep it safe for others, not just yourself.

Yes, I speed, sure I take some corners at higher than suggested speeds, etc but I try to be safe about it. Tailgating people in general is not safe, I'm not sure how one can argue that, which is one of the things dvhappy wrote.

IMO, don't tailgate (or put pressure on another driver to go faster), don't cross solid lines, etc.. but have fun.

Actually I was going to warn you about global warming next.....

Statistics from the NHSTA have proven that slower drivers are more a risk for danger and accidents than a speeder. They say that the slower drivers are not as intune with the road conditions and other drivers and do not look ahead for possible dangerous situations because they believe the BS that slower speed is a guarnatee that you will be less likely to be involved in an accident. In your typical family sedan, yes, speed is a bad thing, but with a car like ours? Its meant to handle the speed! This is an argument we could make a whole series on. The only truth correlation with speed is that the govt will make more money the faster you go. All that hype is purely speculation with speed = danger, just look at the engineers and facts, its there! BTW i love the dragon and always pull over when someone is faster than I.
