1st and foremost, the event was a huge success. Thanks Raul
Suggestions:
1) Timing. From past experience, I showed up late for lunch, and still had to wait a half hour for lunch to arrive. I would prefer to drive during the day, and socialize at night. Not keeping on the time schedule cut out driving time.
2) Group Pictures - again, timing. Announce group picture of people 5 minutes prior, and snap the picture on time. Announce the car picture time, and snap the pictures. This one is hard for me to post, as I want to be a part of the group photos, but I don't want to spend an hour doing it.
3) Less time "grouping" for the pre-run meeting. Again, it is a great photo op, but it shouldn't take 40 minutes.
4) A S2000 caravan through the Dragon for the initial run. Relaxed pace, evenly spaced, and video taped (there is a great esses section). This would allow first timers to learn a bit of the Dragon prior to being let loose, and the video & pictures would be awesome. (Huskerhubby would have to be hired to perform the photography )
So in summary, my only gripe is timing, and my only (current) suggestion is a caravan through the Dragon.

I thought the police escort was awesome, so that was a pleasant and welcome surprise, not to mention way cool!
However, things seemed to get a bit jumbled up once we hit the freeway. I think we were too long of a line and that annoyed other motorists and caused them to do stupid things.
Example: An Accord got over right behind me on the highway and would have plowed into me had I not evaded them as all the cars in front of me slammed on their brakes at that same moment. I had plenty of room to stop, but the Accord did not and I did not have enough extra room in front of me at that point to help him out. I was paying enough attention that I saw it coming and knew that the left lane was clear and safe for me to hop into, thankfully.
The Accord probably needed to get over for an exit, but was stuck next to a line of 80+ S2000s and felt pressured to cut in without leaving himself a safe stopping distance. Multiple smaller groups on the way there leaving in stages would make this less of an issue.

Here's two pennies:
Less of a police presence on the dragon. We could organize the final times and dates via PM's. That way we don't get the extra attention we aren't looking for. Logistically this could be a problem but I think that the police knew we were coming...

My comments:
I think with a group this large, a sampling will probably be about 50-50 on most topics.
'Many' people like strict timelines, precise direction, and to be lead along during an event. The other 'many' people enjoy the freedom given by a basic framework and the ability to work within it to do what they want. Not any/everyone will be happy with any/everything. Raul makes decisions as the organizer, and we decide to go based on that. I think this effort to get ideas to improve the event is admirable in and of itself. There are some good ideas out there already.
I think that the following could have been improved.
- Overall map of the area, with some information about the various roads available for driving.
- A schedule for when the specific BIG things will happen. When is THE photo op. When is lunch. Focus on the few big things that everyone should partake in.
- More parking at the dam (not much to do about this), but it meant that those there first had to leave last. Perhaps a way to line up cars based on their what they have chosen to do after lunch.
- Planning the photo op before the photo op actually happened. It seemed like there was suprise when we tried to park, then it looks like just 80 random S2Ks in the picture. (Search out the first UK supermeet pics, and check out the 'big horseshoe'. )
That's my first cent. I'm saving the other one for later.
