Well... I'll be bringing a few bottles, not for a "tasting"..... but for my enjoyment, and if someone grabs a bottle and has a pour.... oh well!

I find it hard to believe that with all the car groups that converge on Fontana, that there are not alcoholic beverages consumed in the lobby/porch/parking lots....

A dry county is a foreign concept to us Canadians. I was doing an internship in Elizabethtown, KY back in the late 90's and that was my first experience with this dry county concept. Even more odd to me was that the I.U. campus (my alma mater) had no bars at all...here in Canadaland, bars and night clubs on campus are par for the course.

No matter, I can respect the rules. So to confirm, open alcohol at the fire pit is not allowed.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone!

While I am not saying that someone should do this, I really doubt they are going to go around checking what's in everyone's cups. In other words if you poured something in a tumbler that you carried around with you there's not a lot that anyone is going to do or say about it unless you tell them what's in it. Just know that it would not do well for the group if you are caught in such a situation.

By the way, I will be bringing a bottle or two as well and I think I have some pretty good ones to share this year.

From what I was told, even the fire pits are off limits.

I am going to offer our cabin as a meeting place for anyone who wants to share or convers over a few drinks. It will be great to see you all there.

That's an option, thanks! Does your cabin have a fire pit? I thought most cabins did at this resort. When I was there last year I don't remember seeing anyone at the large public fire pit anyway. I have to have a few cigars as well, so hope nobody objects. Must haves for me is fire, drinks, cigars, and conversation in one place. If Fontana Village can't meet those requirements, I suggest finding another venue where can have more fun and not disturb the neighbors. Has anyone considered the Nantahala Village Resort just across the border in Macon county? They have restaurant, meeting rooms, 2 bars, swimming pool, and fire pit. A bit farther to drive, but we wouldn't be sharing the event with the Miatas, etc.

They have a place where you can build a fire but it's not a true firepit.

Does anyone have friends in other car groups that stay at Fontana....

Are they being told the same thing as us?

Asking for a friend.

Here's a thought Everyone assemble in the lobby on Saturday night sans alcohol of course but with cups of tea or 7 Up. See the reaction of the Fontana police when they check it out.
