Dragon Events Tail of the Dragon (Highway US129) 318 curves in 11 miles, is America’s number one motorcycle and sports car road.

Would this be a fun drive?

Laura and I did that loop at WTD this year right before the banquet. Except we went around Lake Santeetlah instead of staying on 129 north of Robbinsville. 143 between 28 and Robbinsville is BO-RING.

Yes it is a deadend - did you hear all the gravel hitting the fender wells on that run - I want to check out this road for the Poker Run, but really don't like the idea if the road has a crappy finish.

This is a fun, short loop run!

Tapoco to Fontana / Meadowbranch Run

We did it a couple years back. The route was awesome but the road had a lot of small loose gravel on it. We're going up in a couple weeks, and I'll check it out to see how the road looks now.

You can also parallel Hwy 129 to Robbinsville via Old Field Gap & Yellow Branch Rd; will check those out as well!

I think Pedro (PJCC) took us back on that road...it does have a lot of loose gravel :/

Anyone done the Santeetlah Lake Loop?

Yep. Not a good road for our cars, not between Cherohala and 129 around the north side of the lake. It's twisty and scenic with lots of shade, but the pavement's all torn up. At least it was in April.
