Dragon Events Tail of the Dragon (Highway US129) 318 curves in 11 miles, is America’s number one motorcycle and sports car road.

Would this be a fun drive?

Yeah I ventured up there last WTD. I was curious where that road went to but only got about 5 minutes down before turning around. Is it poorly paved the whole time?

I asked that on some other thread. I think the response was it's curvy and scenic, but there's usually a lot of traffic. I'd really like to find some time to go to Clingmans Dome, and that's the road that it's on.

We did it a couple years back. The route was awesome but the road had a lot of small loose gravel on it. We're going up in a couple weeks, and I'll check it out to see how the road looks now.

You can also parallel Hwy 129 to Robbinsville via Old Field Gap & Yellow Branch Rd; will check those out as well!
Yellow Branch is one that we do almost every year, but in April, the road was starting to get a number of really rough/bumpy spots...

If you drive it, let us know how it is now.

Will do, bro! Ron and I are going up this weekend, so we'll drive both of them and report back. If we have time, we'll also do the "Happy Valley / Hilltops & Hollers" route as well, JUST to make sure it's all open and that there are no U-turns involved at DBRXI. We plan for that to be a group drive on Saturday.
