Mike - I really enjoyed the Winter seasonal - Winter Wheat? We can't get those here, unfortunately, but I am pleased my store is now stocking 2 Abitas. Sounds like time to give the Amber a whirl! I just hope Amber is not Brittany's sister...

And this time, someone definitely needs to cut Raul off. Hell he doesn't even remember the pirate jokes....

Question for anyone who may know.......Since money is tight for everyone these days, can my wife and I purchase shirts only?

Thanks!

Do you mean buy event shirts and not attend the event? I don't see why not. Raul?

Or do you mean buy event shirts and attend the event without registering... I could see a few folks having a problem with that considering the amount of time, money and effort that goes into making these events possible.

I sincerely hope you mean the former.

The wheat is Abita's summer brew. The most recent seasonals have been Fall Fest, Christmas Ale, and Bock (for Mardi Gras). Red Ale is now on shelves in time for St. Patrick's day, and Strawberry Lager should release soon to celebrate the local strawberry harvest.

Raul definitely had a few at DBR. All bets were off when the ranger showed up looking for Mr. Alvarez.... he can fill you in on the rest if he wishes. All I have to say is this:

CUMBEAR!

No we are going to the event, but we are staying in Witter at my wifes families cabin. We just want shirts. I know the routes and info about the area..

This type of thing in not really acceptable. There are a great group of guys (and gal) who put a lot of work into making this event possible. We all "know the routes", so if we all just wanted a shirt then it would ruin the event. The registration actually pays for a lot more than just a shirt. Not to mention, every other driver/passenger at WTD will have paid their way. They will have a bit of a problem if you're walking around sporting the event t-shirt, not having paid to be there like everyone else. You are welcome to stay somewhere other than Fontana, like you mentioned, but you will still be required to pay for registration to participate in the event.

Everyone understands hard times. Some of us are feeling it more than others, but that's no excuse here. I know that if I was feeling the economic crisis so bad that I couldn't spend $70 on event registration, I don't think I would be taking a vacation in the first place... especially one where I will be burning a lot of gas.

I hope I don't sound like an ass. I can assure you that I'm not the only one that feels this way. I may just be the only one with the balls to say it.

I've likely stirred a hornet's nest. It just blows my mind how some people think.

Honestly, it's a public road...I get that...but too many people make plans to attend this event...folks use vacation time...or simply time away from work, other firends and family to make this event. They save money...they save time...they prepare...they register. They register because they know without doing so...we might not have organized events in the future. Organizing these events allows us the opportunity to come together as an S2000 Community. We have fixed costs for our event...tent rentals, field rental, food and beverage rentals, etc...I won't bore you with the details.

I always hear... "We just want to drive." Well my answer to that is come any other time then. Truth is...you want to be around OTHER S2000s. And enjoying the hard work of MANY is just selfish.

In the end...I just don't care to worry about it anymore. MY focus is on the folks WHO DID REGISTER. I make it my priority to ensure these folks have a great weekend.
