Maybe I did come off a little strong but your post made it sound as if you may be a little reckless. I'm sorry about that.

This is a good group of people and we like to leave with everyone in one piece and the groups reputation intact.

Come and join us. I'm sure you will have a good time

Been there and done that. Don't be intimidated by this crowd of happy road hazards . I have been to a number of S2000 events, and you couldn't be among a better group of S2000 enthusiats in the country. The roads are great, and really, even the LEO's are relatively benign (National Park Police aside). Unless your being a total jerk, (line crossing) dangeriously excessive speed and general bad manners on the road, you will be fine.

Now, all that aside, once you drive the Dragon the first time, you will understand the careful attitude of many of our BEST drivers. This is not your average public highway. People that drive at the limit regularly DIE on this road. So, when someone who obviously enjoys driving at the limit, (and many of us do), states his intent to do just that , on this road, for the first time ever, well, we perhaps react a little harshly. Please understand and don't take it personally, we want you here to enjoy this event, and live to return year after year. And, as you will find when you attend, this event is MORE than a road.

I hope to see you there. Be sure to look me up.

[QUOTE=Hickey322,Feb 18 2010, 04:09 PM] How are the cops typically during the event.

Thanks Dave for the nice and simple answer. I am saddened to see everyone jump all over me for asking an honest question. With all the hate from this group, maybe this is not the event for me.

I did not mean I was going try and lap everyone on the Dragon, and honestly, I haven't gotten a ticket in over 5 years. But on the other hand, I do not want to drive over a thousand miles to go 20 mph on some road, no matter how famous it may be. I can do that where I live. I have been to other group drives and we did have the opportunity to open it up a little bit. Maybe I should have stated it a little different to shield me from the flaming.
Hey no worries! Like everyone before said, the wording of your first post came off a little bit more reckless than what you probably intended.

My first visit to the dragon (WTD'08) was also only my second month in a RWD car, plus I had heard the stories of people backing their cars off the mountain driving too hard, so I arrived with a humble attitude towards the road. Little did I know how intense it was even driving the speed limit the entire way! I ended up stopping about halfway once I got a hint of cell reception to call back to my friends coming later to be careful. You get a feel for how you should be driving the Dragon after hanging out with this group.

You should also know that I have been known to traverse the road at very illegal speeds as well once I had learned the car a bit better so I'm not really one to talk Either way, hopefully you will still come out because these guys truly are a great group and I would still have fun even if I were driving a beat-up neon

I remember that... you came with an open mind and were very careful... You also didn't feel the need to go trying to prove something to anyone as well.

Don't need to know about the very illegal speeds though

Nice going...Getting a warning for everyone.

How about next time you put the microphone in the cab so we can hear your a$$ chewing a little better. That audio "is unacceptable, boy"
