Just got home after leaving about 13 hours ago and taking 129/19 all the way from Deals Gap to Atlanta, then jumping on 75. Excellent stuff.

Dad & I just arrived home . Drove away from home [deliberately] to the small town of Marble, NC taking advantage of proximity to visit a cousin. Left there around 2pm, drove back through Nantahala, Maggie Valley, Cherokee, the Great Smokey Mt Expressway, yada yada to 40 then 81 then 64 & now home . Other than a sheitload of wheeltime, it was an uneventful drive. GREAT time to talk with my dad for those 10 hours!

We both had a great time! To Mark & Marty...thanks a bunch for helping me git my drift on once or twice Sunday morning around sunrise

Can we say "got home safely" if John's Mini was lost in the process?

On a serious note my brother is okay. Pretty bummed, but okay. He has a scratch or two from the airbags, but other than that he is no worse for wear. On the way home he just kept talking about how he couldn't believe it happened this morning of all days. Any other day this weekend he probably would have deserved it, but not today. We left Fontana with out cars packed to go home. We were doing a leisurely 40mph or so down hellbender trying not to throw the bags and stuff around too much. He was following right behind me... and then he wasn't. I turned around figuring he had run out of gas or something. I turned the corner and he was standing there with a totaled Mini. Unbelievable. The best we could figure, he hit some gravel in the hill/turn and lost control. He is very lucky that the car hit a tree, because he would have ended up in the lake 50 feet below had it not been there. The ticket is only $25, which is nothing compared to the shame of it all.... and his new insurance rates.

I'm just glad he is okay. Thanks to everyone who bothered to stop and check on him. Unfortunately we were about 200 miles away before we realized that we forgot to hang a piece of the Mini on the "tree of shame".

Anyway, we made it home to New Orleans at around 9:15pm, which is fantastic considering the Officer Douchebag didn't let us loose until almost 2:00pm. The Evo is safe in the driveway!

Can't express the sorrow over the Mini ...but definitely can express the happiness in knowing your brother is okay . Had to be gut-twisting...but glad only car and pride were damaged.

Absolutely the best time EVARRRRRR! Took about 750 miles before I remembered to soften up my suspension again. I was wondering why my kidneys were hurting so bad. After driving 1.5-2 hours in the wrong direction cause I lost my directions to meet my buddy in SC (DOH!) I finally made it home about 30 minutes ago. Lots of vids and photos that I'll post up later. Thanks to all the vets for helping out with us first timers.

Night drive was epic! I have a great video of it I'll be putting up later. (priority) Now off to shower and bed!

Sorry to hear about that! When we drove past I didn't realize who it was until later. Glad to hear you all at least made it home. Damage didn't look that bad as we drove past but it sure doesn't take much up there.

Maybe it will work out and he can take his insurance check and buy an S like he wanted? Always looking for the positive!
