Default Easter shutdown?

Hi guys,

Pardon what is probably a dumb question, but does all of Europe shut down for Easter, or is it only certain countries?

Reason I ask is that I have never been to Europe before and will be working in Norway for a few months. I am interested in visiting Paris, Amsterdam, and London while I'm there. Norway pretty much shuts down entirely (no supermarkets, restaurants, etc.) for nearly a week during Easter, so I'm hoping to go check out some other countries during that time.

Would this be doable? I just want to avoid showing up when everything's closed. Thanks a lot for any advice.

In Holland Easter is considered Sunday, so most shops etc. will be closed!! Just that one day though!

Sweet, thanks for the quick replies, guys! I'll go ahead and plan to leave Norway during that week and check out the neighboring countries.

Btw, are there any particular hotels you guys would recommend in Paris, Amsterdam, or London? I'll be traveling with my girlfriend and neither of us knows our way around, so we'd be looking for something pretty tourist friendly. Less expensive would be better, but price isn't a huge issue if it's a nice, safe place.

Thanks again for the input, you guys are awesome.
