importing S2000 to Belgium
I'm trying to find out any information on importing a car to Belgium -
it's my car, I have owned it more than one year so I don't think I have to pay any duty.
Does anybody know what the yearly road tax for S2000 - typical insurance quotes for somebody 35years etc.
any owner or dealer experiences in Belgium?

Hi, I don't know about shipping, I can go ask my dealer about it if you want.
Yearly road tax only 300 USD.
I pay for insurance (Total coperage) 1950 USD, I'm 31 but I had a few accidents a few years ago so I pay more than average, I just went on the site of the insurance company, it should be about 1500 USD.
One thing though, Over here there is a tax (registering tax) you have to pay when you buy a car and want to register it, for the S2000 I payed 5000 USD
for a new one, for a one or two year old it is 6500 USD.
I am not sure if you would have to pay this as well, but it is possible, I will get some more info on this if you want.

it's a good point Siepel - my JDM S2000 is of course RHD, my assumption would be that this would pass any local controls/inspections after I have fitted the necessary safety equipment etc - in the same way that a LHD import does in UK.
I am actually from UK so my other option is just ship to UK and register it there. My friend in Belgium has a JDM MX5 as his 2nd car and just sticks it on the road at the weekend.
With the Yen devalued so much the car is worth only around 15,000 euros when I come to sell it so I would never get a LHD one for this price in Belgium. With only 10,000km on it from new and hardly ever seen rain it is in perfect condition - hence my reluctance to part with it for such little money.

Hmmm... I see your point... What is wisdom....?
Maybe you can register it in the UK, drive it where-ever for the minimum time necessary, and sell it in the UK for a fair price? Only thing that you have to watch out for is the LHD/RHD headlamp beam pattern.
As I imported my car as "moving goods" (from USA to Holland) I have to keep it for at leas one year after the import, before I can sell it without any tax fines and such.
Good luck!
