Iceland is not too bad a place. Also one of the most pretty places on earth.
I guess it could be a little boring at times.
But all you got to do is hop on Icelandic Airlines (if any of the planes are working) and get out of there.
All airplanes work during the winter, Iceland isn't that icy or cold as many think

It's tough moving to another country and make a fresh start. I would have to find a new apartment, work and save up money to buy a new S2000, which isn't I do not want to do right now

Hopefully I can one day live in the US during the winter and Iceland during the summer time. That would rock.

I lived in Oslo, Norway for 4 years. I didn't have my S2000, just a Volvo S80. I didn't get a chance to drive to the West coast, just fly to Stavanger. I did drive often from Oslo to Sweden for shopping. With all of the camera's on the road, you have to keep to the speed limit or expect a ticket in the mail.

I this pic....reminds me of the spot en route from Oslo to Bergen where (this is the 1970's) we pulled off the road next to a small waterfall; reclined the seats; pulled out sleeping bags; and stayed for the night!

We spent almost a week in your beautiful country.....driving our Renault Quatre from Oslo to Bergen; visiting many Stave Churches; couple days in Bergen; and then a loooooong way south via Roldal to the ferry to Denmark

In the next year or two, we plan a trip on the mailboat from Bergen....up the coast along the fjords....as far as you can GO

Weather should be ok in the areas you are going in august. Top down temperature (without skimask) if it is not raining. No guarantees though
