Thomas, I had many dealers say "yes" to selling at MSRP, then they would tack on a $500 dealer fee. I don't pay dealer fees. In fact I walked out of Classic Honda because they tried that trick and few more. They are hidden mark-ups that are not disclosed to the customer until they sign documents and voila!....another $500 is tacked on. If that's OK why not make the dealer fee $3000. The dealer is making plenty at MSRP plus the usual 2 percent dealer holdback. If they want more it's just because they believe they will get someone to PAY more.
2 years ago I got a 2000 Odyssey out the door with leather and navigation for 28.200. It took a month but it was worth bargaining hard. Cash doesn't hurt either.
I'm picking up my car this morning at MSRP....NO DEALER FEE. I am pleased to see that other dealers are willing to sell them at that price....you just have to look and look hard.
I also have bought used S2ks at auction. Occassionally you'll see a low miles 2001 or 2000. They can be had for mid to high twenties. If anyone wants one, please let me know and I'll contact my participating dealer friends. I've picked up two s2ks this way for friends. They go very quickly because some auction buyers who are looking for a specific car for a customer who already KNOWS what they want only mark them up $1000 over what we purchased them at. It's a sure sale. I know a 2001 yellow with 12K miles just sold for $27K at auction. I don't make any money on these transactions (since I'm not the dealer) but I feel good if a S2k buyer is happy!

Yeah OK Jon... whatever bro...By the way, I have the ENTIRE list of all incoming S2000's to every dealership in Florida and on the east coast and sorry no White S2000's assigned to Sherwood Honda.
Oh and uh forgot to mention, I'm getting mine for under MSRP.
Good luck with your career change.
Hey, I got mine for $29,000. from Ed Morse, with a $375 dealer fee I think. It had 4600 miles on it in late Jan. Now it has 16K. (Yeah, I drive a bit) Did I get a deal? They were selling the exact same car with 12K miles for the same price. I of course went for the lower miles.
