Default S2Ks at MSRP???

Just curious...I live in Los Angeles...and I'm about a week shy of putting in an order for a 2002 Spa Yellow Pearl.

The only thing that stands in my way is that I can't find a freakin' dealer that'll offer me an S2K at MSRP or lower.

I know that the chances of me getting an S2K below MSRP are slim to none, and slim just left the building.

But my final offer is going to be MSRP, out the door...which means they'd have to sell it to me for 30 and some change, and add the destination and tax for it to add up to $32.7K

Anyway, I heard of a dealer in Redlands, CA offering it for MSRP. And my friend got his at Kolbe Honda in Reseda for $30K (he's an assistant manager, but can't hook me up...bastard).

I also know a salesman at Thousand Oaks Honda in the Thousand Oaks Auto Mall, and he insists that there's no way I can get it for MSRP.

Help!

Anyone know any dealerships nearby Los Angeles? Thanks a lot everyone.

I got my 2001 Spa Yellow S2k for MSRP at Spreen Honda in Loma Linda about 2mos ago. My strategy was simple: find every dealer within 250miles of San Diego and call them to see if they had a yellow s2000 in stock and, if so, whether they'd sell if for MSRP. I finally found one who did! Good luck!

Now did you buy this vehicle for MSRP out the door or MSRP plus tax, license etc.?

I haven't purchased it yet...the thread above explains the whole story...

But I'm looking for a Spa Yellow Pearl (2002) out the door at MSRP (which means it includes destination and tax for approx. $32.7K).

Maybe MSRP "out the door" is unrealistic. I thought MSRP was supposed to be before tax. Maybe if you wait until the end of December as others have suggested, you might have better luck. Your report from the dealers regarding their opinion of MSRP is discouraging. I'm hoping to purchase one around next Spring, and I'm planning to travel far to find what I want.

I got my below MSRP, but still end up paying ~$35K out the door. At your definition of MSRP, you are offering the dealers < $30,000. With the current economy, anything is possible. Good luck.

I think you'll be able to find the car for MSRP, but no dealer is going to sell it to you for MSRP out the door. They'd have to sell it to you for below MSRP, in order to satisfy your requirements.

There are a few people that I know of that have gotten them below MSRP, but they all had connections. They either worked for Honda or were related to the dealers.
