2003 Civic Si turbo
My good friend finally got the time and means to upgrade his civic si with 50,000 miles on it. He wants to have a turbo installed. I made the recommendation to maybe do some internal work also, like new gaskets and maybe piston rings. Does anyone have any recommendations of a kit to install? Any other work that he should do also, upgrading the bottom end? Any recommendations on a good shop in orlando that this can be done?
Thanks

which kit is it?
Most aren't too difficult to install (with some experience with just bolt-ons). The most difficult part is usually tapping the oil pan and running the fuel return line/fpr (depends on kit). Most kits offer a bolt to attach the oil return liine ... but, typically welding it is better. So, other than that and properly attaching the oil feed line it's not terribly hard. More like a heavy intake, header, and exhaust.
As for upgrading the internals ... i'd say slap that turbo on there with ONLY 50k. If you ask me thats just when a Honda begins to break in!
if he is interested in really building a block ... tell him to save his pennies and hunt down a K23 swap (Acura RDX). That block was designed for boost!
