Default 24 Hours of Daytona

Here's a thread for those attending this years race to plan anything.

I'll start:

Thursday evening dinner 1/25

Sounds like most people are ok with sushi. Can I get a head count and I'll see if I can set something up. Also, what time will be good?

I'd suggest 7pm to 7:30pm.

With the Orlando crew coming up, plus SR71BB & Paha Koria coming also, I say at least 12 or so.

Sushi appears to be the overwhelming choice.

also ... for those of you that are going to be at the race this weekend: If you want we can meet again for something to eat anytime during the weekend. Even if it's having a hotdog or chicken-on-a-stick in the infield!

Usually we try to make meal breaks outside of the racetrack ... gives us an excuse to get out and take a break from all the noise (a chance to remove the earplugs=priceless) . Track food can be a little pricey too. So many places to eat right there on ISB anyway (Checker - ya gotta eat!)

Not sure if everyone here got in on the GRM ticket deal. If you did and like the idea of making our own mini-paddock let me know. Bill McDonald (GRM) let us rope off our own corner last year and may let us do it again if we can get organized. I'll be there Thursday afternoon to start getting that set up. I'd like to get an idea of how many S2's wanna be included so I can rope off enough space. Just respond in this thread if you'd like or email me at dc5rf12x@hotmail.com.

If anyone has an S2ki.com banner that would be a really nice addition ... we could hang it from the fence. Our cars made it on the GRM website last year ... could be really good exposure.

Let me know what you guys think.

Is it worth bringing the S to the Rolex? I was thinking of bringing my truck instead. We'll be there Friday to Sun.

I have the GRM deal.

Thursday night is night practice from 6 to 9, so we'll (Marty and I) will be at the track. We usually do a late dinner. If everyone else is doing dinner early we can catch up with everyone later.

As for bringing your S, I'd say bring it unless you plan on an attempt to park along the fence and sit in the back of the truck to spectate.

Is it time yet?

i agree ... unless you have infield/RV style parking reserved ... it makes sense to bring the S (to me at least). Rolex24 infield = Sports car haven!

There are tons of great sportscars there and I have yet to hear of a bad accident/mishap ... if that's a concern (not to say a DP car won't catch air and land on my S2000 ... but i'd probably be pretty stoked about that! )

42 years at this race, and I've never needed earplugs. Except for maybe the early years of the first rotary motors. The cars have noise limits now

We could try for a mini-paddock near the East Horseshoe exit stands (where the Daytona Dance Deck ™ truck will be parked). We will try to keep a whiteboard and dry-erase markers around for s2ki messages or some sort of message board.
