DEI is a huge company and the alarms Viper/Python are good products! You may want to get a prox so that people are audibly warned that the vehicle has an alarm if they get to close but WARNING - they can be pain in the a$$. To actully trigger the alarm if the top is cut is sort of - well - short sided and expensive. To run the wire mess needed to "sense" a cut in the top is $$$$ and,,, if your top IS cut you're going to spend $$$$.

HAHAHA...I seriously stared at that picture for like a good minute trying to figure out what I was looking at. My mind kept coming back to the idea of a "4 door S2000" until it finally hit me.
I wouldn't advertise what alarm you have and where you live and what color your car is ect. ect. . It makes it all the more easy for the smart bad guys roaming the forums.
Many thieves have background work in stereo /alarm installation or work in conjuction with the bad guys and know the tricks of the trade.
Example of one senario: You have your alarm and $2500 stereo installed at Best Buy in your $35,000 car from some jealous guy getting paid $10 an hour. He now has your address and personal info. What is stopping him from visisting you in 2 months and stealing your stuff/car and or selling your info to the bad guys when you least expect it????? Be careful and don't advertise. Even some people in local car clubs and forums have been known to be bad, bad dudes.
On a side note : I just watched a good episode of Mythbusters where they showed how to beat fingerprint scanners and other building security devices like motion detectors, heat detectors and radar/ultasonic alarms. I'm sure many security companies weren't happy about that.
Just remember, "security" is more than a single solution. Any bad guy with the right timing, tools and training can bypass a car alarm, guards, cameras, motion sensors, etc.. It's the combination of things you do to provide a layered defense that make you and your valuables a "hard target". Doesn't matter if it's cars or terrorists...the same practices apply.
Most importantly, take the time to "appear" to any bystander that you're alert and paying attention to your surroundings. This alone is a significant factor in making a bad dude look for an easier target.
I made my car look like a disco when you engage the alarm and it may be effective and it may not be but the first thing people say about my car when they see it is DAMN what kind of alarm is that? That looks serious!
I always keep my car in sight when I can and then secure it when I cant.
