I've seen this pair nesting for the last few months at least, and hear them every morning. They have a very distinctive high-pitched call or chirp. I also see them flying quite abit - very majestic.
Twice now I've seen them come back to the tree with a seagull - then the seagull feathers start floating down to the ground. Haven't seen them catch fish yet.
Yesterday morning I decided to try to take a few photos. I didn't know that both of them were there until they both flew off - in the pictures you can see them both and in the last frame you can see the wings of one flying.
Across the river is Jackie Robinson Stadium, home of the Daytona Cubs baseball team. Last night apparently there was a game, and around 10 or so at the end there was a heck of a fireworks display - it shook my house. I can only imagine what the nesting eagles thought of all the racket. Ironic that a symbolic display of patriotism probably scared the crap out our living, breathing national birds.
They are a few in my area as well although I have yet to actually see them for myself....I currently back up to a lake and reserve area in East Orlando
when I first moved to FL I was told there were bald eagles here and I laughed it off. then one day at work this guy comes up to me an is like "did you see the eagles over there?" I thought nothing of it till I got up to see what all the fuss was about. Two bald eagles standing on the edge of the lake...I stood in amazment.
